Architectural design, functionality and
aesthetics in a house do not just happen by themselves - they take
thought, flair, experience and....intelligence
That’s where I can help you, just as I have been assisting people around the Wellington region for 12 years.
My
job as an Architectural designer is to help people to enjoy their
surroundings and domestic lifestyle. I do this by listening carefully to
them, creating an intelligent design and paying attention to details. I
understand that a family is an ever changing unit: babies arrive, kids
grow up and need more space, career changes may require multi-use rooms,
and additional vehicles need garaging. These needs could be met by way
of renovating your existing home or designing a brand new home for you –
you choose.
I am experienced in taking a client's brief (and, at
times, assisting with clarifying their brief if they are unsure of the
best course to take.) This will involve many factors including:
determining the project budget, timeframes, room requirements, etc, then
creating a design that will meet those needs. I complete the
construction drawings and take care of all Council requirements, giving
you a stress-free experience.

Who we are
Intelligent Design is headed up by myself, Aaron
Humphreys. I am a qualified Architectural Draughtsman, having studied
for my New Zealand Certificate in Architectural Draughting in Wellington
in 1995-96.
After
graduating I went straight to work for an Architectural design company
in Lower Hutt, where I learnt valuable skills in the draughting and
design areas, knowledge of building standards, liaison with Councils and
mastering the Archicad 3D CAD drawing program.
After
three and a half years I wanted to diversify my drawing skills, so I
gained employment with an Engineering firm learning Structural and Civil
Engineering Draughting and the Autocad CAD program along the way.
Although the practical side of design and draughting was highly
valuable, I missed the client contact and the opportunities to express
my creative flair that I had had in the Architectural
industry.
After three
and a half years in the Engineering field I returned to Architecture
once more. Some four years later (February 2008) I decided it was time
to branch out and start my own Architectural practice – and thus
‘Intelligent Design’ was born!
We
now have three people in the office. We are proud Professional members
of Architectural Designers New Zealand (ADNZ), a national body of
Architectural Designers offering some peace of mind to our clients and
accountability.
Aaron is
a Licensed Building Practioner (LBP) in Design, the new Government
initiated scheme to raise the quality of the built environment.
