    “It is our pleasure to write a reference for Aaron Humphreys, Architectural Designer at Intelligent Design. We have been working with Aaron for the past 12 months to design and specify our new house in Paremata, Porirua.

    The site we had was very challenging, being quite steep, with a limited area of buildable land and an exposed site in a very high wind zone. The house we have come up with is 273m² over three levels which given the site required considerable thought given to the structural integrity of the building as well as our exacting requirements for design, finishes and functionality.

    Right throughout the process, Intelligent Design has been very approachable offering excellent advice and showing a great deal of knowledge (and patience) as we changed our thoughts, wants and needs during the process.

    Due to the nature of the build we had to apply for a Resource Consent from the Council which Aaron guided us through working through the neighbour’s concerns and addressing Council issues.

    We are now about to start construction and we get the ‘WOW’ factor from everyone we show the house design to.

    We have total confidence in Aaron, so much so, that we will be employing him to oversee the construction phase to ensure our design specifications and finishes are met.

  • Aaron was concise throughout the build and prompt with updating details when required.

    We engaged Intelligent Design to provide a Building Consent Application and Construction Documentation for the extensions to our home. This involved the construction of a 50m² internal access garage and a 90m² kitchen and living room area including a new deck, planter boxes and closed-in roof structure.

    Aaron and his team took our vision and amalgamated this with the existing dwelling to create drawings for both the council and our builder. Significant demolition and structural work was undertaken to create a 9-metre-wide opening to support the upper floor. Intelligent Design worked in with the Structural Engineer resulting in an expansive living area that we are extremely happy with.

    Aaron was concise throughout the build and prompt in updating drawings and details when required. We would happily work with Aaron and his team again should the opportunity arise and highly recommend Intelligent Design to any prospective clients.

    “We engaged the services of Intelligent Design to provide concept sketches through to final working drawings for both a large dining room requiring complete alignment with classic architecture circa 1916 and also creating garaging along with two storerooms and a wine cellar within a large unformed basement.
